7.              Professional Experience.

Ø      Worked with Care Somalia as consultant for a study on market women, later worked as project manager with women credit groups chosen from the different markets of Mogadishu May-Dec 1987.

Ø      Research fellow, African Caribbean Institute for Natural resource management on the topic “women in Forestry” July 1988-1989 (fled Mogadishu before project was completed)

Ø      Worked for the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in the capacity of consultant carrying out a mission to Somaliland, January 1993-Feburay 1993.

Ø      Consultant for Danish Refugee Council (DRC) in Hargeisa for a capacity building program for some local NGOs, 1998

Ø      Worked as a consultant for UNIFEM to supervise a three month ICT training program for women from various women NGOs in Hargeisa and write a position paper on Women and the Economy, 2002

Ø      Research consultant for the international Organisation for Migrations (IOM) for a program on market needs assessment, August-November 2002.

Ø      Research consultant for UNIFEM for a study on Women and the Justice Systems in Somaliland, 2003

Ø      Prepared a legal literacy Manual for women to become literate in their basic Islamic rights, 2003

Ø      Member of Women’s in Decision-making Forum, a recently formed body aimed at enhancing Somaliland women’s decision-making powers
