I am personaly ashamed and at the same time shocked that this in human act of deeds were commited in my country

Somaliland went through oppression in the hands of the former regime under the leadership of dictator Mohamed Siad Barre.

We suffered a masive air and ground invasion from one of Africas feared army of that time. These army flattened our houses with their bombs both from ground and air. Destroyed our infrastructure and massacared thousands of incocent civilians. This left a scar in every somalilander and upto this day every each and one somaliland deeply remembers this autrocities that were commited on to them. Somaliland has managed to pacify its citizens from the top to the grass roots. We have experienced democracy and lived upto its standards. Somalilanders have been blessed to enjoy the fruits of peace and with selfless sacrifice somaliland has gone through various events that later on proved to be the instrument of the democratization process for the young republic on the shores of the gulf of eden. In august 2000 the late president Mohamed Ibrahim Egals government distributed thousands of copies of the proposed constitution throught Somaliland for consideration and review by athe people. One critical clause of 130 individual articles of the constitution would ratify Somalilands final separation from its union with Somalia, restoring the nations independence for the first time since1960. In late march 2001 president Egal set the date for the referundum on the constitution of Somaliland for 31 may 2001. This historical event was conducted in a peaceful and democratic manner where by 97% of its citizens voted in favour. One year later on the 3 of may 2002 Somalilands president dies in Pretoria the Rep of South Africa.

the sad news was received in Somalilands capital of Hargeisa Mr Dahir Riyaleh Kahin was sworn in as the third president of the Republic of Somaliland. Five months later Somalilands was provoked by terrorist elements in the eastern part of Somalilands Sool region. The president of Somaliland was nearly assasinated promted by non Somalilanders outside our borders. These terrorist elements that were meant to destablize and create instability in Somaliland by sabotaging the first ever local elections held in Somaliland. A democratic process we Somalilanders hold so dear. Both the local and presidential elections potrayed the spirits of democracy and Somalilands love towards humanity and respect for peace. Today with Somalilands parliamentary election due next year. A reminder of what Somaliland had gone through during our local elections and the failed attempt of our presidents assasination. What a coincidence or is it the same terrorist elements again?

weeks three of Somalilands freinds where brutaly murdred in our country our thoughts goes to families & realtives of Dr . Annalena Tonelli & Mr , Mrs Mr and Mrs Richard Eyeington. This is an organized act of terrorism and yet another attempt to isolate and scare away members of the international community from Somaliland. Tv Somaliland Europe is hereby asking our freinds and members of the international members not to succumb to this undemocratic means. We hope that this culprits are caught and brought to justice. We are also expecting the world communities to come forward and help us with the works towards the democratic process in Somaliland. Somaliland has a system of crisis management that has a lot to offer to Africa and the international communities. We are hereby also asking the government of Somaliland to see to it that justice has taken its cause in Somaliland.
